A new textbook focusing on terminology within the field of logistics has been launched. It serves as both a dictionary and a guide for understanding and navigating a complex and rapidly changing industry.

Society is facing challenges in the transition to a sustainable future—socially, environmentally, and economically. The field of logistics is becoming increasingly specialized while also interacting more with stakeholders in other areas. This has led to a growing need for clear and shared terminology.
The book covers key processes such as transport, planning, storage, trade, and the management of goods, services, and information - but places them in a broader context. It highlights how logistics stakeholders are affected by technological advances, increasing demands from both producers and consumers, and the limited resources of nature.
Jerry Olsson, Senior Lecturer in Logistics at the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg, is the author of this textbook. It is aimed at university-level students but may also be valuable for professionals seeking to deepen their understanding of the changing role of logistics.
"The book is particularly important at a time when logistics plays a crucial role in societal development. Digitalization, globalization, and sustainability requirements are changing the landscape, and the need for up-to-date knowledge is great—not least for the decision-makers of the future," says Jerry Olsson.
