Comprehensive Research Support for Histology

Published

Researchers now have access to all the instrumentation required for tissue sample analysis and generation of high-quality data for research projects, all in one location. In addition, professional support is available throughout every stage of the workflow.

This initiative is aimed at both experienced and newly established researchers, with support tailored to individual needs. The histology experts can provide hands-on training and guidance when requested, offer support for specific steps in the process, or assist throughout the entire workflow.

The instrumentation consists of state-of-the-art technology, including automated tissue processors, microtomes, a cryostat, a vibratome, automated staining systems, and a Zeiss Axioscan 7 for scanning microscopic specimens.

Easy to Get in Touch

Julia Scheffler and Miriam Bollman are established researchers and have long experience in sample preparation, analysis and use of all the advanced instruments available. Through collaboration with Core Facilities, they now work as instrument specialists in the field of histology, so that other researchers are enabled these instruments and their collective competence.

Every second Wednesday, odd weeks, starting November 3rd, 11.00 12.00, histology drop-in sessions are held at the SciLifeLab office.

“It is easy to get in touch with us. We offer a free initial 20-minute consultation for researchers who would like to discuss an idea with us. We also provide guidance on the most suitable methods and discuss the level of support the researcher requires,” says Julia Scheffler.

“We also offer a course for doctoral students during the autumn semester, where we teach histological methods to help researchers gain the skills they need to use the instruments independently in the future. In the FUBAS course catalogue, the course is listed as SM00139: The Essentials of Histology: Techniques for Today's Research,” says Miriam Bollman, the course coordinator.

The histology instruments are located within the Department of Rheumatology at Guldhedsgatan 10A.
