The Swedish Neurotechnology Alliance - NeuroXTek

NeuroXTek aims to transform Swedish research and innovation excellence into a global neurotechnology leadership environment by 2036.

Three of us started in May of 2025 with a focused idea: Sweden needs a national Excellence Cluster capable of turning its then fragmented research and innovation strengths into a global leadership environment for neurotechnology. The Swedish Neurotechnology Alliance was formed and, with support from its then 60+ members, received a Swedish Research Council (VR) network grant to plan a future Excellence Cluster. Through intense and structured teamwork, the Alliance grew rapidly and co-developed its research and innovation Missions and ecosystem plan for responsible breakthrough neurotechnology. The full Excellence Cluster proposal was submitted in early June 2026. NeuroXTek now brings together more than 220 researchers and innovators awaiting the VR/Vinnova funding decision, expected in November 2026.
