Students from educations in world music and improvisation meet the musicians Suranjana Ghosh (tabla) and Jonas Knutsson (saxophone) during a captivating evening of contemporary traditional music. The concert is the result of a unique project where the students worked together with the guest teachers Suranjana and Jonas to combine elements from Indian music, new compositions, folk and world music and jazz to create completely new music together.
Suranjana Ghosh comes from Calcutta, India, and is one of the very few female professional tablas players. For many years, she has graced the Swedish music scene with her highly skilled style of play and infectious energy in collaborations with musicians from all over the world. With roots in North Indian classical music, she meets music and artists from different genres. She brings Indian rhythms to folk music, flamenco, blues, jazz, opera and other classical works. Suranjana has also released four CDs, the latest "Teenal on tour 2021". More about Suranjana Ghosh on her website.
