Naseema Shaik is a senior lecturer in the Foundation Phase, Faculty of Education at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. She is the Coordinator of the Diploma in Grade R and senior lecturer in the BEd Foundation Phase. Naseema is also the Foundation Phase Curriculum Officer at the Mowbray Campus of the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.  Naseema supervises Masters and PhD students. Currently, Naseema is the deputy president of the South African Research Association for Early Childhood Education (SARAECE). She is also the lead coordinator for the project on 'Developing a transformative pedagogy for the early years'. Naseema's research interests are located in participatory pedagogies and children's rights in early childhood education. She has published in accredited journals and chapters in scholarly books both nationally and internationally on transforming pedagogies in the early years and has published chapters in textbooks as well. Naseema is a peer reviewer for national and international accredited journals and has national and international research collaborations.
