Reaching the absolute top in elite sports is a complex and often long-term process shaped by a number of different factors. The path there rarely looks the same for different individuals, but common patterns and decisive moments can still be identified.

During the lecture, researcher Astrid Schubring will present selected results from a research project on Swedish elite athletes who reached the highest international level in their respective sports. The focus is on similarities and differences in their career paths, crucial turning points and the supporting factors that enabled their development.
