An important purpose of offshore wind power is to contribute to electrification in order to decrease emissions. This is the starting point for the project “Assessing the Carbon Trade-off of Shipping Routes due to Offshore Wind Farm Development”, funded by Trafikverket, led by Rohan Kumar, Researcher, Uppsala University and Anna Rutgersson, Professor of Meteorology, Uppsala University.

But what if offshore wind power forces the shipping industry to longer routes, and thereby increasing the emissions? How aware is offshore wind power companies of this?

“Assessing the Carbon Trade-off of Shipping Routes due to Offshore Wind Farm Development” is looking in to if and how much emissions could increase due to offshore wind power. But for correct analyses, correct data from the wind and shipping industries are vital.

In this webinar, Rohan Kumar from Uppsala University, will present the project. In the webinar both offshore wind power companies and the shipping industry will be involved to discuss and contribute with input to the project.
