Meet our new PhD student Linda Neubauer
Linda Neubauer is one of five new PhD students joining the department this autumn. Originally from Germany, her path to research has taken her from studies in Mannheim and Lund to research positions in Stockholm, where her interest in public economics and political economy continued to grow.
Linda Jasmin Neubauer is from the southwest of Germany. She did her Bachelor's in Mannheim, Germany and her Master's in Lund, Sweden. Before coming to Gothenburg, she worked at Stockholm University and the Stockholm School of Economics as a Research Assistant.
What sparked your interest in pursuing research?
"During my Bachelor’s, I did an internship at the ZEW Centre for European Economic Studies and really enjoyed working in research. Working on my Master’s theses and then in research assistant jobs in Stockholm confirmed this interest in pursuing research."
What research fields are you most curious to explore during your PhD?
"My current research interests lie mainly in public economics and political economy, with a particular interest in questions related to gender and health. I also look forward to exploring new ideas as I get started."
"During my time as an RA, I picked up a lot about the research process and empirical methods. During my PhD, I hope to build on those skills, and apply what I've learned to my own research topics."
What made you choose to apply to the University of Gothenburg?
"I chose the University of Gothenburg because the department offers a strong research environment with a broad range of topics across the faculty. It felt like a welcoming, supportive place to do a PhD. I also wanted to stay in Sweden after having lived here for a while now."
