About Nicolai Verbücheln
My PhD project aims to understand and quantify how temperature and other environmental drivers impact microbial community assembly, the interactions between different marine bacteria and metabolite exchange ultimately leading to organic matter turnover in the ocean.
I am part of the Marine Microbial Ecology group at Gothenburg University (https://www.gu.se/en/research/marine-microbial-ecology-group-mmeco).
Recently, my project "UNHIDE" ("Unravelling the hidden microbial biodiversity in Nordic marine ecosystems") has been funded by the AQUARIUS Transnational Access Call 2. In this project we aim to map and advance our understanding of microbial diversity and ecosystem functioning in Nordic marine environments.
