About Mohammad Ammar Syed
I am a doctoral student in Educational Work within the research school FinnFram (Finding Pathways in a Time of Major Future Challenges). My professional background is as a subject teacher in English and Social Studies, and I have worked both as a class mentor and subject teacher at the lower secondary level, as well as within adult education. Since 2022, I have been enrolled in the doctoral program at the Department for Education and Special Education.
My research interests concern the transition from lower secondary to upper secondary school, with a particular focus on how factors such as social class and ethnicity influence students’ choice of upper secondary education. As well as how class and ethnicity are manifested within different educational contexts.
My supervisors are Associate Professor Mattias Nylund and Professor Elisabet Öhrn.
