Jenny Milton is a registered nurse, a specialist nurse in intensive care, and a senior lecturer in nursing science. Her research primarily focuses on person-centered teamwork, with a broader emphasis on collaboration and methodological development.
Research
Jenny earned her PhD in 2022 through defending her thesis that aimed to investigate how interprofessional teams in the emergency department interact and communicate, and how—or whether this influences patient care and patient safety. The thesis laid the foundation for her interest in interprofessional teams working in complex environments where patient participation is essential for high-quality care.

Developing methods for the co-production of person-centered interventions to address involuntary loneliness among older adults, examining how different societal stakeholders collaborate in providing welfare services to reduce involuntary loneliness.

Simulation using virtual patients through touchscreen tables to understand factors that influence interprofessional learning (IPL) between medical students and nursing students.

Jenny Milton’s research is funded through grants from FORTE (the Swedish Research Council for Health, Working Life and Welfare).
Teaching
Jenny teaches in the nursing program (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) and the specialist nursing program in intensive care (Master of Science in Nursing). She focuses on education related to complex care and is particularly involved in developing teaching in preparedness and disaster medicine. Jenny supervises undergraduate and advanced-level thesis projects and serves as an co-supervisor for doctoral students.
She is also a member of the West Swedish Teacher Network for Disaster Medicine Education (VÄLUK).
Clinical Practice
Alongside her academic position, Jenny works through a joint academic-clinical appointment within the of emergency care department , internal medicine, and geriatrics at Sahlgrenska university hospital.
Academic Appointments
Jenny serves as a member of the steering committee for the clinical training center (KTC) at the Sahlgrenska Academy; University of Gothenburg.
