About Hannah Helgegren
Hannah is employed as a PhD student at the Department of Food and Nutrition and Sport Science.
Hannah is also a clinical dietitian since 2004 and a specialist in childhood obesity since 2019. Alongside her PhD work she works at the Childhood Obesity Unit in Malmö.
The title of the PhD project is: Promoting vegetables and fruit consumption among children: Exploring and evaluating new ways of action to increase intake
The project consist of:
- Interviews with children age 10-12 years and their parents, exploring thoughts, conceptions and experiences of vegetables and fruit. The material is collected and analyzed with a phenomenographic approach.
- Development of a new supportive tool for vegetable and fruit consumption, "A Palmful of Colour", that is meant to be used by families in their home environment.
- Evaluation of the new tool by a randomized controlled trial (RCT) aiming to include 160 families. The data collection takes place in the Skåne region of Sweden where families are recruited from schools and from the Childhood Obesity Unit in Malmö. Mobile phone cameras are used to collect a large part of the research material.
Main supervisor is Professor Christel Larsson at the Department of Food and Nutrition and Sport Science. Co-supervisor is Professor Anna Winkvist at the Department of Clinical nutrition at the Sahlgrenska Academy.
