About Christian Gadolin

Christian received his PhD from the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg in 2017, with a dissertation on quality improvement work in healthcare. He became Associate Professor of Business Administration in 2022. From 2023 to 2024, he served as Director of Health Academy West. Since 2024, he has been a researcher and Deputy Director at the Centre for Health Governance at the University of Gothenburg. Since 2025, he has also served as Academic Program Director of Executive Medical Management, a leadership program for senior executives in complex organizations within healthcare and the life sciences, which he also co-founded.

Christian’s research focuses on leadership, governance, and organizing in complex settings. He is particularly interested in how organizations develop and change, how collaboration takes shape across organizational and professional boundaries, and the implications this has for leadership and governance. Healthcare has been a central setting for his research. His work has been published in several leading international journals, including British Journal of Management, Public Management Review, and Social Science & Medicine.

In addition to his research, Christian is an active contributor to public debate. He writes regularly on governance, leadership, and organizing, with a particular focus on healthcare and the public sector, but also on business and on how technological and socioeconomic change affects organizations, working life, and individuals. His opinion pieces have appeared in, among others, Dagens industri, Dagens Medicin, Dagens Samhälle, Göteborgs-Posten, and Aftonbladet.
