About Christian Gadolin
Christian received his PhD in 2017 from the School of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Gothenburg, with a dissertation on improvement work in healthcare. He was appointed Associate Professor of Business Administration at University West in 2022. From 2023 to 2024, he served as Executive Director of Hälsoakademin Väst. Since 2024, he has been a researcher and Deputy Director at the Centre for Health Governance at the University of Gothenburg. Since 2025, he has also been the Academic Director of Executive Medical Management, a leadership programme for senior executives in complex healthcare and life science organisations, which he also helped found.
Christian’s research often focuses on management, governance, and organisation in healthcare, particularly in complex settings where collaboration and development work are central. His work has been published in several well-regarded journals, including British Journal of Management, Public Management Review, Scandinavian Journal of Work, Environment & Health, Journal of Advanced Nursing, and Scandinavian Journal of Management.
In addition to his research, Christian is actively engaged in public debate. He writes regularly on healthcare governance, leadership, and organisation, as well as on public sector development, working life, and broader welfare issues. His opinion pieces have appeared in outlets such as Dagens Medicin, Dagens Samhälle, Göteborgs-Posten, Sydsvenskan, and Aftonbladet.
