About Benjamin Husvik
In my dissertation project, entitled “A legitimate heir to the throne? Female succession, maternal decsent and legitmate birth in Norway, 1161–1302”, I examine the development of female succession in Norway in relation to a larger European context. The ambition of exploring Norway from a European context is primarily to gain new knowledge about how and why female succession was introduced in Norway, and what consequences this had for the power and position of royal women. This approach can also extract new insights into the development of female succession and queenship in general in Europe.
