Axel Adler Scholarship
If you have applied for an international bachelor’s or master’s program at the University of Gothenburg and are required to pay tuition fees, you may be eligible for the Axel Adler Scholarship. The scholarship is a tuition fee waiver, and the selection is primarily based on your qualifications for the program you have applied for.
The scholarship is funded by Adlerbertska Scholarship Foundation, Adlerbertska Grant Foundation and the Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR).
Requirements
To be eligible for Axel Adler Scholarship 2027, you must:
- be required to pay tuition fees in Sweden.
- apply for an international campus-based program at the University of Gothenburg, as your first choice
- submit your application for studies by 15 January 2027
- pay the application fee and submit documents showing that you meet the entry requirements by 1 February 2027 at www.universityadmissions.se.
Application
If you have applied to a program at the University of Gothenburg as your first priority through universityadmissions.se and meet the requirements, you will receive an email with instructions around February 10, 2027.
The email will be sent to the address registered in your account at universityadmissions.se.
If you are eligible and have not received an email, first check your spam folder. If you still cannot find it, contact us at scholarships@gu.se.
CV and Letter of Motivation
When applying for Axel Adler Scholarship you must write a CV and a Letter of Motivation in the scholarship application system. You cannot upload or attach documents to the scholarship application. Your CV and letter of motivation are used in the selection process. In your letter of motivation, you can highlight the qualifications included in your CV.
Selection process
Academic staff assess and rank scholarship applications based on the CV and letter of motivation included in the scholarship application. Your academic merits may also be taken into account.
One scholarship is awarded for each master’s program and each eligible bachelor’s program.
Eligible bachelor’s programmes:
- Software Engineering and Management
- Computer science and AI
- International Relations
- Business and Economics
- BFA Program in Metal Art
- BFA Program in Wood Oriented Furniture Design
- BFA Program in Craft with Specialisation in Crafting Futures
For programs at the Artistic Faculty, a total of four scholarships are available across all master’s and bachelor’s programs.
If sufficient funds are available, up to ten additional scholarships may be awarded to the master’s and bachelor’s programs with the highest number of scholarship applicants.

Scholarship results for the 2027 application round will be sent by email:
- 12 April 2027 master's program applicants
- 15 April 2027 bachelor's program applicants
Axel Adler Scholarship for Sustainability
The Axel Adler scholarship for Sustainability is an additional scholarship for students admitted to one of our sustainability-focused master's programs. The scholarship is a tuition fee waiver.
Requirements
To be eligible you must meet the general requirements for Axel Adler Scholarship 2027 and the special requirements for Axel Adler Scholarship for Sustainability
If you are eligible for both scholarships, you apply for them in the same application.
Between 2 students and 12 students will be awarded the Axel Adler Scholarship for Sustainability.
Please note: Bachelor’s programs or the distance learning Master’s program, Education for Sustainable Developement are not eligible
