Qualitative Approaches to Educational Research

This course is offered to those exchange students who also take the course IME110 introduction to educational research, 15 hec.
This course introduces the foundations of qualitative research, including key methods and core ethical principles. You explore what it means to conduct research ethically, with a focus on responsible practice and accountability.
The course is built around problem-based learning. Working in groups, you design a qualitative research approach to investigate a current issue in education. You learn to formulate clear research problems and outline appropriate methodological strategies, drawing on relevant literature and published empirical studies.
Teaching combines lectures, workshops, and seminars to support your collaborative learning and research design skills.
Entry requirements
To be eligible for the course, a good first cycle degree in Social Sciences with a minimum of 60 credits in Education, or equivalent is required. Applicants must prove their knowledge of English: English 6 or English, level 2 from Swedish Upper Secondary School or the equivalent level of an internationally recognized test, for example TOEFL, IELTS.
