Advanced Geochemistry
Summary
Would you like to learn how to solve geological problems using ICP-MS methods? This course examines geological problems at a deeper level. The course offers excellent facilities, such as laser ablation ICP-MS.
About
The course provides practical experience of advanced analytical instruments used in geochemistry. You will learn how to handle and interpret laser ablation ICP-MS data and gain knowledge of the principles of geochronology in magmatic and metamorphic systems.
You will also deepen your knowledge of geochemical literature, develop research strategies in geochemistry, and practice presenting your results orally and in writing.
The course is part of the Master’s Programme in Earth Sciences, the course is also offered as a freestanding course.

Prerequisites and selection
Entry requirements
For admittance to the course requires 165 credits in completed courses within Earth Sciences, including GVG380 Geochemistry with at least 90% with passing grades and English B/English 6 or an international language test, for example TOEFL, IELTS.
Selection
Selection is based upon the number of credits from previous university studies, maximum 165 credits.
After graduation
If you study Earth Sciences at the University of Gothenburg, you can expect good career opportunities both in Sweden and abroad. You can choose to work in industry, as a consultant, project manager or in public administration.
