About the education
Accounting refers to the compilation of decision-making data based on events of primary economic nature. The subject of accounting is divided into regulated external reporting, which deals with bookkeeping, financial statements, and annual reports, and management accounting, which aims to create relevant information for decision-makers in an organization.
Course Content
The course package consists of two theory courses and a bachelor's thesis.
FEK331 Management Control System, 7.5 credits
The focus is on how management is designed to implement strategies in operational activities. The course covers various control mechanisms such as performance and action control, financial responsibility, financial performance measurement, and how information technology can support management accounting. The course also addresses how sustainability can be integrated into management accounting.

FEK 332 Financial Accounting, 7.5 credits
The course focuses on the norms and theories governing external reporting by companies. Special emphasis is placed on group accounting within the norms. External reporting is related to the needs of recipients, such as the stock market's use of accounting.

The course concludes with a 15-credit bachelor's thesis.

Skills
After completing the course, you will be able to analyze, justify, and evaluate the choice of management accounting, identify the advantages and disadvantages of formal and informal control mechanisms, and understand the need to adapt financial control systems to different situations. You will also have basic accounting knowledge, be able to produce a simple consolidated financial statement, and evaluate a company based on financial reports.
After graduation
After completing the education, you can, for example, work as a controller, accountant in a company, in an auditing firm, or consulting firm.
Facilities
Most of the School of Business, Economics, and Law's activities are located at Vasagatan 1, but we also have facilities at Viktoriagatan 13. Additionally, at the Vasagatan 1 premises, you'll find the Economics Library, which is several floors high and has many study places.
Prerequisites and selection
Admission to the course requires at least 105 credits, of which at least 45 credits must be in Financial Economics.
