This research project, which focuses on the city of Gothenburg, will examine how light can be integrated into urban planning. The project is expected to give a broader view of light and lighting as a natural tool in the urban planning process as well as contributing to method development on light and art, space and social inclusion and cohesion.

Sustainable urban development requires collaboration, new forms of cooperation and processes. It is a complex challenge, which places demands on both increased knowledge, investigative collaborations and research. There is a need for cross-border and cross-sectoral collaboration that includes citizens, civil society and business. It is a complex challenge, and in a field filled with different and sometimes opposite perspectives, special interests and goal conflicts place high demands on coordination and coordination.
The project aims to:
   1.   examine how light can be integrated into urban planning
   2.   translate research and experience and further develop the guidance on light
   3.   deepen method development on light and art, space and social inclusion and cohesion,
   4.   test, develop and establish new forms of collaboration between administrations.

In the project, which focuses on the city of Gothenburg, we will collaboratively develop the multidisciplinary collaboration process in light planning, raise the level of knowledge about light within the administrations and other actors working with urban planning, architecture and community building and develop "Guidelines for Gothenburg City Lighting".

The effect of the project carried out is expected to give a broader view of light and lighting as a natural tool in the urban planning process, as well as create frames and "languages" to facilitate communication between the city's different spheres of interest.
