Dissertation project: Conflicts and Contradictions in Global Climate Finance Governance – The Case of the Green Climate Fund.

The PhD project is situated within the research field of global climate governance and focuses on climate finance allocation, more specifically the Green Climate Fund (GCF), which is one of the central mechanisms under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The project concentrates upon the conflicts and contradictions that develops through the assemblage of more or less compatible ideas and assumptions about what constitutes good climate governance and necessary social change. These conflicts and contradictions are seldomly present in formal declarations from the GCF and the aim is to make them visible. This contributes to a critical discussion about what social change means in this central arrangement for the allocation of global climate finance.
