Short description

ACCTING examines gendered and intersectional inequalities on individual level, group level and societal level in the context of the EU sustainability agenda and Green Deal. It mobilises research experimentation and innovation in 34 countries to advance a gender equal, inclusive and socially just European Green Deal. It specifically focuses on inequalities produced and reproduced in the context of Green Deal policy and interventions. It is based on interdisciplinary conceptual and methodological framework, inspired by strategic policy design-thinking. It collects new data on Green Deal policy interventions at individual, community, organisational and societal levels.

ACCTING relies on a 13 European partner consortium and some hundred researchers. It is funded under the EU Horizon 2020 call Building a low-carbon, climate resilient future: Research and innovation in support of the European Green Deal, with approximately 54 million SEK (4 996 441 euro).

Six recommendations for policymakers, employers and civil society organisations

ACCTING has produced a set of six factsheets to support policymakers, employers, and civil society organisations in understanding the effects of Green Deal policies on vulnerable groups, and to suggest practical recommendations to mitigate these effects. Through these factsheets, ACCTING aims to empower policymakers and other stakeholders to anticipate the potential negative impacts of policies on vulnerable groups in order to avoid increases in inequalities.

Funding of ten innovative pilot project

The ten innovative pilot projects funded by ACCTING aim to reduce or prevent inequalities and negative impacts on poorer, marginalised and vulnerable groups, to ensure a Green Deal where no one is left behind. Another goal is to highlight the potential impact and replicability of smaller-scale solutions driven by local or national civil society organisations based in Europe. Out of 135 eligible applications, ACCTING selected ten pilot projects addressing vulnerabilities in the areas of the European Green Deal: Energy, Mobility, Food, Disaster Management, and Biodiversity.

The pilot projects will have a duration of up to 12 months. More information on the projects and the organisations leading them is available on the ACCTING project website
