The Unit for Innovation and Entrepreneurship is excited to welcome two new Senior lecturers - one specializing in Entrepreneurship and the other in Innovation Management.
Bastian Rake, whose work focuses on Innovation Management and Marouane Bousfiha, who specializes in Entrepreneurship, are both employed as Senior lecturers and will be part of the education team within undergraduate, graduate and PhD education, as well as conduct research within their respective fields. Both Bastian Rake and Marouane Bousfiha are already affiliated with the Gothenburg U-GOT KIES research centre, and now their expertise and dedication will significantly strengthen the Unit’s academic environment and contribute to an innovative and dynamic research community.

Bastain Rake's research studies innovation in knowledge-intense industries with a particular focus on the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, repurposing, collaboration and innovation networks, as well as in the internationalization of science and R&D. His research appeared in renowned journals such as Research Policy, R&D Management, Industrial and Corporate Change, Industry and Innovation, Drug Discovery Today, as well as Innovation: Organization & Management. Bastian Rake has published practitioner-oriented contributions in outlets like RTÉ Brainstorm and the Business & Society Blog.
Bastian Rake looks forward to continuing and commencing collaborative projects with Maureen McKelvey and other members of the Unit and U-GOT KIES - Centre on knowledge-intensive innovation ecosystems. Building upon his broad teaching experience in areas of innovation management, entrepreneurship, strategy, and organizational behaviour across undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD courses, Bastian is going to teach courses related to innovation and research methods.
Bastian Rake holds a PhD from the Friedrich Schiller University, Jena, Germany. Before joining the University of Gothenburg, Bastian had academic positions at the University of Passau, Germany and Maynooth University, Ireland.
Marouane Bousfiha’s general research interests are entrepreneurship theory and innovation management, with particular attention to design, identity, and experimentation. His work has been published in leading journals, including Academy of Management Review and Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal.
Currently, Marouane Bousfiha is engaged in a research project on experimentation in SportTech entrepreneurship, focusing on how young, innovative firms combine business and technological experimentation.
In addition to research, Marouane Bousfiha teaches courses in Entrepreneurship and New Business Development, Innovation Management, and Research Methods, and he serves as Programme Director for the Masters programme Innovation and Industrial Management.
Marouane Bousfiha received his PhD in Technology Management and Economics from Chalmers University of Technology in 2020. Since then, he has been affiliated with the Unit for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, initially as a postdoctoral researcher and later as a Senior lecturer. Prior to joining the Unit, he was a visiting scholar at Stanford University.
