Professor Lesley Head, University of Wollongong, Australia, has been awarded the Vega Medal 2015, from the Swedish Society for Anthropology and Geography. Lesley Head is guest professor at the unit for Human Geography at the School of Business, Economics and Law, University of Gothenburg. She has made broad contributions to the discipline of human geography. Her research is at the interface of cultural studies and sustainable development, combining engagement for a critical and theoretically sharp human geography with a solid empirical foundation. Professor Head is a strong voice of human geography in climate research discussions and debates.

The Vega Symposium 2015 was dedicated to Professor Head’s research. The Symposium took place on Thursday 23 April at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, in Stockholm, when His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf presented the Vega Medal to Professor Lesley Head. Present at the ceremony at the Swedish Royal Court were also SSAG's Chairman Sten Hagberg, Vice president Thaïs Machado Borges, Secretary Madeleine Bonow and Professor Marie Stenseke, School of Business, Economics and Law, University of Gothenburg.
