Research Breakfast in Vasaparken Brought Researchers Together Around Film and Science

On 1 June, the first Research Breakfast in Vasaparken was held under the theme Science and Film at the Forefront. The event brought together teachers and researchers from the University of Gothenburg to discuss how film can be used as a form of knowledge, a pedagogical tool, and a basis for collaboration between academia and different film contexts.

The programme began with breakfast, followed by an introduction, presentations, reflections and an open discussion. The conversation centred on what film can do, what we can do with film, and how film and science can enrich one another at a time characterised by complex societal challenges.

Participants included Pia Lundberg, Artistic Director of the Göteborg Film Festival, director Gabriela Pichler, and researchers from the University of Gothenburg: Elena Raviola, Bengt Johansson, Tobias Pontara, Mats Jönsson and Niklas Egels Zandén.

The Research Breakfast is part of a newly launched series that aims to develop new forms of exchange between academia, society, art and science. This first breakfast was organised by the University of Gothenburg’s activities at Jonsered Manor, currently relocating to Vasaparken, in collaboration with the Göteborg Film Festival.
