Mattias Marklund new member of IVA

Physics' own Mattias Marklund is among the 40 new members elected to IVA (The Royal Academy of Engineering Sciences).

Professor Mattias Marklund runs a research group at the University of Gothenburg which focuses on plasma physics.

"It feels very nice to be inducted into IVA, and I hope I get the opportunity to contribute to their activities. I have done some work with the research conditions in Sweden, and hope that it can be valuable for IVA as well", says Mattias Marklund.

Mattias is also part of the group for natural- and technical sciences at the Swedish Research Council. In IVA, he will be part of the Department of Fundamentals and Frontiers of Technology"

"The combined experience and skills of the new members of IVA will be an important addition to us as an academy. This means that we further strengthen and broaden IVA's competences in important future issues such as artificial intelligence and sustainable development", say Marcus Wallenberg, president of IVA and Tuula Teeri, CEO of IVA in a joint statement.
