Innovative games breathe life into Gothenburg's history

In the heart of Gothenburg, during the Kulturnatta festivities, the Glass House at HDK-Valand became the stage for the creative event "The Gothenburg Through the Ages Halloween game jam". Supported by Higab, RISE, and the University of Gothenburg, talented game developers gathered to create new digital games inspired by the city's rich cultural history. The event transformed archive images, historical texts, and film clips into a series of unique gaming experiences that highlight Gothenburg's cultural heritage.

Participants created four engaging games, each with its own story and connection to Gothenburg::

  1. Zombie Tram: An adventure game where the player navigates a tram through the streets of Gothenburg. The game combines the thrill of a chase with a unique local twist, offering a fresh look at the well-known sights.

  2. Poseiball: This digital pinball game takes the player on a journey through the historical moments of Lorensberg, interwoven with authentic film material.

  3. Mordiska Micke's Minnespalats: In a dark VR game, the player explores events through the eyes of Murderous Mike, reliving your chilling deeds.

  4. Message from Peter: This adventure uses Google Street View to weave a supernatural mystery through the streets of Gothenburg, where each clue and puzzle piece draws the player deeper into the story.
