Graeme Martin guest professor at the Centre for Global HRM

Graeme Martin has been appointed as an Erik Malmsten Visiting Professor at the School of Business, Economics and Law, University of Gothenburg. During his professorship, he will work at the Centre for Global Human Resources Management (CGHRM). CGHRM is an interdisciplinary collaboration between the Department for Business Administration and the Department for Sociology and Work Science.

Graeme MartinGraeme Martin is Professor and Chair of Management and Director of Research at the School of Business at the University of Dundee. Prior to joining the University in August 2012, he held professorial appointments at the Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow and Edinburgh Business School, Heriot Watt University, as well as being founding Director of the Dundee Business School at Abertay University. He also has held visiting international professorial appointments at Macquarie University and UTS in Australia, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice in Italy, Peking University in China and the University of Colorado in the USA.


Graeme has published extensively in the fields of HRM, management and leadership and change management in leading international journals, including articles in Organization Studies, Social Science and Medicine, Sociology of Health and Illness, the Human Resource Management Journal and the International Journal of Human Resource Management.


Following an early career in personnel and industrial relations management in the engineering and construction industry in the UK and overseas, Graeme has undertaken consulting and research projects for a large number of private and public sector organizations in the UK, continental Europe and Australia in the past thirty years.
Currently, Graeme is working on impact cases with the senior management team of a scale-up company in the UK technology sector, the senior HR team of Getinge, and the medical directorates of a Hospital Foundation Trust in England and NHS Tayside. He is also currently researching into the role of employer branding and employee engagement, HR in scale-up SMEs, organizational trust research with colleagues from Glasgow, medical leadership and medical engagement with colleagues in Scotland, England, the Netherlands and the US, and the changing work experience of hospital consultants with the British Medical Association.


Among other appointments, Graeme is Editor in Chief of the Journal of Organizational Effectiveness: People and Performance, and a member of the Scientific Board of the CGHRM.


During his Visiting Professorship, Graeme will organize and lead seminars, with the first takes place 19 September, entitled Improving Research Outputs, Research Impact and Research Culture: Can We Learn Anything from the UK and its Research Excellence Framework? During his guest professorship, there will be opportunities to meet with Graeme both at seminars and individual meetings. In February 2020, Graeme will invite editors from international journals for a full day on how to get published in top journals.
