Tidernas Göteborg Jam
Gothenburg is a city with a rich history. This history can be explored and discovered in the National Library of Sweden's newspaper archives, the Swedish National Heritage Board's search service Kringla and the Swedish National Archives' collections of police reports, photographs and films taken by dedicated amateurs who wanted to portray their city. What would happen if these written, photographed and filmed memories were presented in new media formats? What might we find if we searched among them using modern, semantic search methods? The project Tidernas Göteborg invites you to a game jam in the beautiful Glashuset, so that together we can portray Gothenburg's cultural history as games and interactive narratives!
Participants will have access to a semantic search tool that is intended to be used to inspire the work. This inspiration can be used both at the early idea stage and for the production of content material.
This jam is best attended in a group, but the organisers will be on hand to form groups on site and it is also possible to attend alone.
We will want to interview participants to better understand the process that led from inspiration to design. For example, we will ask how different entry points lead to different outcomes and how the search tool and other tools or methods played a part in the process.
