Welcome to a lecture with artist Alexander Kurlandsky and the publishing house Toxoplasma Press.
In recent years, many small presses have been forced to close due to rising shipping costs, shortages of paper and materials, and structural conditions within the publishing and distribution industries. Against this backdrop, the lecture takes the relaunch of Toxoplasma Press as its point of departure.
Toxoplasma Press is run by a group of friends and collaborators with backgrounds in art, writing, photography, and design. The press does not consider the book a commercial product, but rather an artistic object or a form of documentation for temporary or otherwise non-permanent art projects. Publications are often hand-bound or produced in special editions.
