The two Chinese authors Yang Lian and Liu Qing will visit the Gothenburg Book Fair this year, and they will also come to the Bernhard Karlgren Seminar! We will hear short readings from their works, and there will be a talk led by Martin Svensson Ekström and Fredrik Fällman. All interested are welcome!

Yang Lian 杨炼 (b. 1955) is foremost a poet and became well-known in the 1980s with so-called ”misty poetry" (朦胧诗). He is translated to many languages.

Liu Qing 刘庆 (b. 1968) comes from northeastern China (Manchuria) and he has written several novels depicing life in this region, where there is a large Korean population and many contacts with Russia. The area was occupied by Japan 1932–1945.
