The films preserved in the archives are an important historical source. During this event, Mats Jönsson, Professor of Film Studies at the University of Gothenburg, and Karl-Magnus Johansson, from the Swedish National Archives in Gothenburg, will show historical moving images with connections to Gothenburg.

We will see historical news reels and films shot by the Gothenburg police chamber in the mid-20th century. We will also show unique moving images from the construction of the Götaälv bridge in 1937-1939.

The preserved films in the archives are an incredible historical source. During this evening, Mats Jönsson, Professor of Film Studies at the University of Gothenburg, and Karl-Magnus Johansson, from the Swedish National Archives in Gothenburg, will show moving images from the past with links to Gothenburg. In particular, we will see historical newsreels and films shot by the Gothenburg police chamber in the mid-20th century. Among other things, there will be unique moving images showing the construction of the Göta älv Bridge in 1937-1939. 

Reservations are mandatory - you book your ticket by emailing your name to bokning.gla@riksarkivet.se by 12 noon on the day of the lecture. Note! There is a limited number of places. You need to be at the venue 15 minutes before the lecture to confirm your booking otherwise the seat will become vacant.
