The documentary Blood Berries follows Thai berry pickers who traveled to Sweden and Finland in the hope of creating a better future for themselves and their families. Through personal stories, the film portrays how their dream of financial security instead led to debt, exploitation, and a struggle for justice.

After the film screening:

Director Hathairat Phaholtap will be present for a conversation with Karin Zackari, Senior Lecturer in Human Rights at the School of Global Studies, University of Gothenburg.

Hathairat Phaholtap (Wist) has worked as a journalist in Thailand for over 20 years, covering politics and human rights issues. She is now editor-in-chief of Isaan Record, a news site producing in-depth reporting on northeastern Thailand. Her work has earned several awards, including recognition from Amnesty International Thailand. Hathairat is visiting Sweden and will be at Frölunda kulturhus in person to meet the audience after the screening.
The conversation will be moderated by Karin Zackari, Associate Senior Lecturer in Human Rights at the School of Global Studies, University of Gothenburg, specializing in contemporary and historical human rights issues in Thailand.
