Abstract

Tree rings provide high-resolution archives of past climate variability. This work explores the stability of temperature signals in Swedish tree-ring records during the pronounced warming of the last century, as well as efforts to extend hydroclimate reconstructions further northwards and back in time towards the last millennium. It also includes methodological development of the cost-efficient blue intensity proxy to better approximate X-ray density measurements and an exploration the potential of wood anatomical signals in a comparatively understudied region in this respect, British Columbia, Canada.
