Sture Carlsson has, for several decades, played a decisive role in shaping Swedish performing arts. He has led some of the country’s foremost institutions, from the Gothenburg Concert Hall to the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, and has contributed to the development and strengthening of artistic institutions across Sweden. Through his leadership, curiosity, and ability to build bridges between art, politics, and society, he has remained a driving force for cultural development, particularly in western Sweden. These are issues that have gained renewed relevance in recent years. What can we learn from, and how can we understand, what has been and the developments that have taken place, and what becomes especially important to carry forward in the continued work to strengthen culture’s role and development?
The conversation is moderated by Kerstin Alnebratt, Director of the Department of Culture at the Västra Götaland Region, and a member of the Artistic Faculty Board.
After the discussion, participants are invited to a short mingle.
