The research project is a collaborative project together with the County Administrative Board of Västra Götaland, which aims to investigate newly arrived migrants' experiences of being assigned to municipalities according to the 2016 Settlement Act. The study includes three municipalities in the Västra Götaland region. The project includes a dozen in-depth interviews with newly arrived migrants, based on issues concerning the process of assignation, and with a special focus on which factors the newly arrived persons perceive as particularly important in connection with settlement. The aim is to contribute with additional knowledge regarding how newly arrived migrants experience integration under the 2016 Settlement Act, and contribute to the discussion on how such work can be developed within Swedish regions.
