Pediatric Surgery

Welcome to the research area of Pediatric Surgery. We conduct research and education on conditions in children and adolescents that require investigation, care and treatment. These areas are: gastrology, urology, oncology, traumatology, including burn care, and pulmonary surgery.

About us

Pediatric surgery is, among other things, a specialty in rare diagnoses, with a focus on children with congenital malformations of the lungs, diaphragm, gastrointestinal tract, abdominal wall or urinary tract organs. We perform highly specialized surgery that is usually reconstructive, and should function throughout the patient's continued life. Advanced tumor surgery is also within our specialty.

Research

Research is conducted within the special pediatric surgery and aims overall to develop new care and treatment methods for patient groups in need of advanced pediatric and adolescent surgery, in cases where treatment results are currently not optimal or where evidence is lacking. Our goal is to maintain a patient and parent perspective, with a focus on function and quality of life.

Doctoral theses

Here you will find upcoming doctoral thesis defenses within the subject area, as well as some of the most recently completed ones, where doctoral students are interviewed about their research.

Education

Our educational programs are aimed at those who are curious and want to deepen their knowledge in the field of pediatric and adolescent surgery. Education is primarily provided as part of the medical program and for physicians specializing in pediatric surgery. Pediatric urologists also provide training for licensed healthcare professionals.
