Linguistics and Theory of Science unitAbout Talha Bedir
I am a PhD student in Computational Linguistics and I am working on processing of generic and normative statements. The most cliché example being "You do not shout in a library". Processing of such sentences not only requires a smart analysis of deontic and epistemic modality types but also awareness of affordances and their meaning with respect to the environment. Lately, I started to expand my work towards human-robot interaction as well. Examining the relationship between humans and robots with respect to processing and the generation of these generic statements are truly interesting for me--and getting scarily relevant for the world as well.
My work is primarily comprised of following areas of linguistics:
-
Semantics & Pragmatics
-
Interactional Linguistics
-
Computational Linguistics
My current research interests are:
-
human robot interaction
-
processing and generation of ethical and normative statement
-
formalization of ethical and normative statements
