About Khwaja Naveed

Dr Khwaja Naveed is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Applied IT, University of Gothenburg, and an active member of the Swedish Center for Digital Innovation (SCDI). With a background in accounting, management sciences and business analytics, his research sits at the intersection of organisation studies, sustainability and digitalisation. He is particularly interested in how organisations use sustainability accounting, ESG analytics and AI-driven information systems to navigate the twin transitions of green and digital change. He currently contributes to initiatives such as BIOPATH (integrating biodiversity into financial decision-making) and the Urban Twin Transition Centre, where he works on identifying, validating and scaling digital solutions for sustainable urban development.

Methodologically, his work combines macro-organisational and institutional perspectives with quantitative analysis and computational text/document analytics (e.g. corporate reports, earnings calls, public strategy documents). He is especially interested in how business analytics, knowledge-graph approaches and large language models can be used in a human-centred way to support governance, accountability and decision-making, rather than replace expert judgement.

Dr Naveed’s teaching and supervision portfolio spans Human-Centred AI, Business Ethics, Business Policy and Strategy, Corporate Law, Sustainability and Research Methods, and he supervises students at Master’s and doctoral level. His research has been published in journals such as Business Strategy and the Environment, Sustainability Accounting, Management and Policy Journal, Meditari Accountancy Research, Society and Business Review, and Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management. Alongside his academic work, he brings experience from education management, public speaking and community engagement, contributing to both the university and the broader professional and societal context.
