About Johan Söderman

My research interests focus on the societal, educational, aesthetic/musical, and cultural dimensions of children’s and youth culture, social movements, civil society, adult learning, and folkbildning (popular education). Global hip-hop culture is a central theme throughout my publications and professional work. I am a committed advocate of folkbildning in all its forms and serve on the Scientific Advisory Council of SISU Idrottsutbildarna and the nationella rådet för folkbildningsforskning (National Council for Popular Education Research) Mimer at Linköping University.
