Anders Carlsson
About Anders Carlsson
Anders Carlsson is a doctoral candidate in Artistic Research at the Academy of Music and Drama, University of Gothenburg. He works as a stage director, actor, and researcher, with a background as artistic director of Institutet and as professor and programme leader in acting at Uniarts Helsinki.
His research explores acting as a practice of phronesis, focusing on ethical judgment, erotic relationality, and institutional navigation in postdramatic performance. Through essays and practice-based inquiries, he investigates how actors and institutions can operate under conditions of asymmetry, ambiguity, and political pressure.
Carlsson’s work moves between performance-making, pedagogy, and institutional critique, with a particular interest in situated judgment, consent, and the ethics of exposure.
