Apply for Symphonic Orchestra Performance
This information applies to applications for the Master of Fine Arts in Music with Specialisation in Symphonic Orchestra Performance, starting in autumn 2026. The next applications period is 1 December 2025 – 15 January 2026.
Your application process
The following information applies to applicants starting their studies in autumn 2026.
- Apply for the program through universityadmissions.se
Application period: 1 December 2025 – 15 January 2026. - Pay your application fee by 2 February 2026.
If you are a citizen of the EU, an EEA country, or Switzerland, you are exempt from paying enrolment or tuition fees. If you are exempt from the application fee, you must provide proof of your exemption status. More information about fees on universityadmissions.se. - Complete your eligibility no later than 2 February 2026.

- Upload videos in SlideRoom no later than 16 February 2026 at 23.59 (Central European Time).

Admission tests
For entry in autumn 2026.
The admission tests to the Master’s Program of Fine Arts in Music with Specialization in Symphonic Orchestra Performance will be carried out entirely through digital work samples (video recordings). Carefully read the video recording requirements before you begin recording.
Work samples must be uploaded via SlideRoom. You create a new account in SlideRoom yourself with your e-mail address and password of your choice.
Applicants for orchestra instruments (not piano and percussion)
Interview: You will receive interview questions by e-mail. The questions must be answered in a separate video. You are free to speak Swedish or English.
Audition: The audition repertoire consists of orchestral excerpts and one concerto. Lists for all instruments can be found in the pdf file Audition repertoire list. The sheet music for the orchestral excerpts will be sent to you via e-mail.
Upload your video files as follows:
- Video 1: Interview answers
- Video 2: Orchestral excerpts should be recorded in a single take.
- Video 3: The concerto should be recorded in a single take; multi-movement concertos should be recorded in single takes per movement.
Applicants for piano
Interview: You will receive interview questions by e-mail. The questions must be answered in a separate video. You are free to speak Swedish or English.
Audition: The audition repertoire consists of orchestral excerpts, opera excerpts and optional solo works from at least two different eras. The playing time for the solo works must be a total of at least 10 minutes. The sheet music for the orchestral and opera excerpts will be sent to you via e-mail.

- Video 1: Interview answers
- Video 2: Vocal scores should be recorded in a single take.
- Video 3: Orchestral excerpts should be recorded in a single take.
- Video 4–8: One solo piece per recording
Applicants for percussion
Interview: You will receive interview questions by e-mail. The questions must be answered in a separate video. You are free to speak Swedish or English.
Audition: The audition repertoire consists of orchestral excerpts. Lists for all instruments can be found in the pdf file Audition repertoire list. The sheet music for the orchestral excerpts and further instructions will be sent to you via e-mail.

- Video 1: Interview answers
- Video 2: Excerpts 1–5 should be recorded in one single take
- Video 3: Excerpts 6–10 should be recorded in one single take
- Video 4: A free solo piece for percussion (mallet, multi-percussion, timpani, snare drum, etc.), between two and four minutes long.

Requirements for the video recordings
- Clearly state which piece you will be performing on the recording.
- The recording has to be of high sound quality.
- The applicant must be visible in close-up.
- Face, arms and instruments should be clearly visible .
- The recordings must not be edited.
- Accepted file formats: .m4v, .mov, .mp4, .wmv, .flv, .asf, .mpeg, .mpg, .mkv
- Maximum file size: 500 MB per video
Eligibility and selection
Entry requirements
Bachelor degree of arts in music or equivalent, and musical knowledge and skills that are assessed at the admission test and are the basis for selection.
Selection
Selection of eligible applicants is based upon entrance tests.
