Advanced flowcytometry in laboratory medicine

The course aims to provide both theoretical and practical knowledge of flow cytometry. The course covers basic principles of flow cytometry, and different types of instrumentation and techniques are presented. Furthermore, workflows, sample handling, quality assurance, troubleshooting, validation, and data analysis in flow cytometric investigations are discussed. Various types of diagnostic applications are addressed, including study visits to clinical settings that use flow cytometry. During the course, students will analyze demonstration samples using flow cytometry and practice analyzing results using, for example, FlowJo.
Prerequisites and selection
Entry requirements
Eligibility for the course requires a Bachelor?s degree or a professional degree comprising 180 higher education credits in Biomedical Laboratory Science, or an equivalent qualification within the fields of medicine, pharmacy, health care, or natural sciences, as well as English 6/English, level 2.
Selection
Selection is based upon the number of credits from previous university studies, maximum 165 credits.
