Short description

The aim of this project is to bridge the gaps between municipalities, sub-regional and regional spatial planning and tourism development, by aligning tourism management within sustainable spatial planning through co-creative reflexive processes of knowledge capacity-building. The project builds on previous embedded research focusing on the public tourism sector limited engagement in sustainable spatial planning, specifically, the limited attention given to the underlying prerequisites for how the public tourism sector can develop a well-informed, holistic and strategic governance. The project’s originality lies in its innovative approach to public governance of tourism, with a clear focus on sustainable spatial planning in practice to reach actual practical and societal change through co-creational methods.
