Short description

This project seeks to examine the role of colonialism in shaping India’s economic and social development. The primary focus is on understanding the long-term persistence effects of colonial rule and how these have contributed to patterns of inequality that endure to the present day. To investigate these questions, the study will draw upon historical data contained in the Imperial Gazettes, published by the British Government in India.
