The Artistic Faculty co-organiser at Folk och Kultur

Published

The Artistic Faculty is participating in Folk och Kultur, Sweden’s largest cultural policy convention, which takes place on 4–7 February in Munktellstaden, Eskilstuna, as a co-organiser of several programme sessions together with the Department of Culture of Västra Götaland Region and the City of Gothenburg Department of Culture.

The jointly organised sessions are part of the theme day Together – for an open, inclusive and democratic cultural life on Thursday, 5 February. During this day, the cultural administrations of Västra Götaland Region and the City of Gothenburg, together with the Artistic Faculty at the University of Gothenburg, present a coherent programme segment focusing on the role of culture in societal development – from collaboration as a professional competence to how culture and urban development can be connected beyond silos and organisational boundaries.

The programme includes, among other things, discussions on how educational networks in the cultural sector can be strengthened, how collaboration takes shape as place, and what conditions are required for the long-term development of the performing arts. The sessions will be held on Thursday at Eskilstuna Folk High School’s lecture hall and bring together researchers, public officials and actors from the cultural sector for discussions on methods, responsibilities and the role of culture in societal development.

“Folk och Kultur is an important meeting place for conversations about the role of art and culture in societal development, and for the Artistic Faculty it is essential to take part in discussions related to education, artistic practice and the shaping of the cultural life of the future,” says Henric Benesch, Dean of the Artistic Faculty.
