Professor Inger Johanne Sand - Honorary Doctor in Laws

Professor Inger Johanne Sand was conferred an Honorary Doctor in Laws degree by the University of Gothenburg at the university's annual ceremony 16 October 2016.

Inger Johanne Sand is Professor of Public Law at the University of Oslo. Sand's research is multifaceted and covers large parts of the field of public law, including administrative law, constitutional law, EU law, environmental law, sociology of law and theory of law.

Sand obtained her doctoral degree in 1994 and was later affiliated with the LOS programme (LOS is a Norwegian acronym for leadership, organisation and governing) under the Research Council of Norway 1988–1996 and member of the programme board 1993–96. She was connected to ARENA (the Research Council of Norway’s programme concerning Europeanisation of the nation-state) as a researcher 1996–97 and served on the board 1993–95 and 2008–2013. Professor Sand was a visiting research fellow at the European University Institute in 2001, visiting professor at Copenhagen Business School 2005–2007 and dean of research 2008–2011, and in 2011 she was appointed honorary doctor at Åbo Akademi University. Sand was appointed professor of public law in 2002.
