The Centre for Global Migration is an interdisciplinary research centre at the University of Gothenburg dedicated to advancing knowledge on migration and integration.
“CGM brings together researchers, students and practitioners from a wide range of disciplines, creating an environment where complex societal issues can be examined from multiple perspectives. One of the centre’s key strengths is its ability to combine high-quality research with a strong commitment to making knowledge relevant and accessible to society and policymakers,” says Gabriella Elgenius.
As Director, she plans to further strengthen the centre as a platform for research by increasing the accessibility of research findings and by deepening collaboration both within and across disciplines in the field.
One initiative already underway is the seminar series What Does the Research Say?, organised in partnership with the Gothenburg City Library. The seminars feature researchers from the University of Gothenburg presenting current research on migration and integration and placing it in dialogue with key political and societal issues, particularly in light of the upcoming election.
The series will also serve as a platform for CGM’s open-access policy briefs, helping to make research findings more accessible to policymakers and practitioners.
“At the same time, we will continue to foster collaborations across the University of Gothenburg and with national and international partners,” says Gabriella Elgenius.
