Apply to the Nordic Gender Fund 2026

Published

The application round for this year’s Nordic Gender Fund opens on 1 October. On 8 October, the National Secretariat for Gender Research will hold an online information session about the fund and this year’s call for applications.

In order to promote gender studies as a field of research, the Swedish Secretariat for Gender Studies at the University of Gothenburg established the Nordic Gender Fund in 2024. The Secretariat issues an annual call for applications to the fund, with the aim to strengthen research infrastructure in the Nordic region for research into norms, perceptions and structures that reproduce and maintain inequalities based on, for example, gender, race/ethnicity, sexuality, class and age.

Applicants may apply for grants ranging from SEK 25,000 to SEK 100,000. A total of SEK 500,000 will be awarded in the 2026 call.

Researchers affiliated with a Nordic higher education institution are eligible to apply

Doctoral students and researchers with a doctoral degree who are affiliated with a higher education institution in Denmark, Finland, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden or Åland are eligible to apply.

Funding is available for activities aimed at establishing or strengthening:

  • scientific networks
  • scientific conferences
  • scientific journals

The Nordic Gender Fund accepts applications covering all types of costs, including salary costs, for activities carried out during 2026.

The call opens on 1 October 2026 and closes on 5 November at 15:00.

The terms and criteria for applications to the Nordic Gender Fund are available on the Secretariat’s website: Nordic Gender Fund | Swedish Secretariat for Gender Research, University of Gothenburg
