The conference, “The EU’s Global Role in an Age of War and Transatlantic Tensions,” takes place at a time when relations between Europe and its allies are marked by uncertainty. Recent conflicts and a more unpredictable American leadership have affected both economic and geopolitical structures globally. The conference will be held in English.

Renowned European scholar Sven Biscop will deliver the conference keynote address.
Sven Biscop, affiliated with Ghent University and the think tank Egmont, will deliver a keynote address, analysing the strategic implications of war, geopolitical rivalry and transatlantic tensions for Europe.
In addition to the keynote address, former European Commissioner Cecilia Malmström, now Assar Gabrielsson Visiting Professor at the School of Business, Economics and Law, will take part in a panel discussion together with other scholars. The discussion will address topics such as trade, development, the role of small states, and the United Kingdom’s role in European security.
The conference is organised by the Centre for European Research (CERGU) and is open to the public. Due to limited seating, registration is recommended. The conference will be held in English.
