Abstract

This presentation offers an overview of my PhD project on transitivizing markers on verbs in Dutch. These verbal markers can be divided into two main types: separable particles and inseparable prefixes, most notably the prefix be-. T

he project focuses on the diachronic development and semantic properties of these markers, investigated through a series of case studies. I will first present the results of earlier case studies, before turning to a discussion of the prefix be-. In doing so, I will introduce a new case study (in collaboration with Evie Coussé) and discuss its preliminary findings.
